Pak Ou Caves is another place to visit while in Luang Prabang and can only be reached by boat. The caves itself are filled with hundreds of Buddhist sculptures which were assembled throughout the centuries by the locals.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site also boasts colorful culture. Monks on alms walks are a common but still very picturesque site. Visitors can also visit that National Museum (which was once the Royal Palace) or Wat Xieng Thong temple for a taste of culture and history. The city is also home to many colonial style buildings that add to the scenery of Luang Prabang.
