Happy Halloween!
Last year, we celebrated Halloween & Dia de Los Muertos in Zihautanjo Mexico. It was one of my all time favorite trips. I loved the downtown seafront location of my friend's villa... in the middle of all the action one would expect in a small Mexican fishing village. The parades, costumes, and graveyards were beautiful and mysterious.
Here is a recap of that trip... Enjoy!Zihautanejo - Where We Stayed

We take every measure to ensure the continued safety and protection of the turtles through involvement with local protection agencies... Read More Introducing RiuLand - Riu Hotels New Kid's Program!
RiuLand was conceived to give Riu’s entertainment and activities program for children an improved and modern twist. The activities are planned with different age groups in mind (Club 4 to 7 and Club 8 to 12), and to place a premium on physical group activities outdoors instead of more static pastimes, such as handicrafts and table games. RiuLand comes complete with a new image and a song of its very own.
Riu suggests that children explore a program of 12 themed days that include Aqualand Day, with games in the pool; Riu Olympic, a day for group sports and individual events; and Piratesland, a day of tough pirate contests and treasure hunting. Two of these themed days stand out for the educational value that tops off the fun: Riu World and Ecoland. The first introduces children to the cultures of different countries through the most popular children’s games from these places. And Ecoland is a day devoted to ecology that encourages kids to get to know the ecosystem of the hotel’s natural surroundings through a number of different activities that also seek to reinforce the importance of caring for the environment. Another feature of RiuLand is that children are always the protagonists, which is why the children’s plays staged once a week in the hotel’s theater are not performed for children, but by them instead. In addition to glittering shows in the evening, RiuLand offers RiuLand Parties, which feature dance games, shows and the Miss and Mr. RiuLand contest, with a prize given to the winners. For more information or reservations, visit Riu Hotels.
The Pyramids of Mexico?

You must have heard of the Pyramids of Egypt, but I would doubt if you know about the Pyramids of Mexico. Just like those in Egypt, the Pyramids of Mexico several centuries old and full of mystery. The Mexican Pyramid is a large pile of earth with a temple at the top, and an external staircase that provides access to the summit.
Teotihuacan, located about 50km northeast of Mexico City is one of the most outstanding pyramid sites in Mexico. The name came from Nahuati language and means, The city of the gods or where men became gods. It is believed that the Aztecs gave the name to the city when they visited it. The ancient city was abandoned by its builders more than 500 years before Aztec culture emerged.
Teotihuacan is thought to be the first true urban centre in the western world, arising around the beginning of the Christian era. At the peak of its habitation, it is estimated to have a human population of between 125,000 and 200,000.
Almost at the centre of this ancient city stands the pyramid of the sun measuring about 225metres by 220 metres at the base. It has five terraces that rise to a height of 63 metres. To get to the peak, one must climb over 240 steps. To the north of the city is located the pyramid of the moon, with its top 40m high. These two pyramids once had temples on them.
Other Pyramids
In the heart of Mexico City is located the main temple of the Aztecs. Though no pyramid is standing there, but the base of a pyramid structure can still be seen. Two temples used for human sacrifice were recently uncovered by archaeologists.
Chichen Itza is another pyramid site in Mexico. They are the most visited. Located in the Maya region, close to the city of Merida in Yucatan, they are the most accessible. There is an impressive Maya complex surrounded by the Chapas jungle in Palenque. Among the many pyramids and buildings are the Palace and the temple of Inscriptions. The temple, is one of the most famous temples in the whole of North and South America because it was a funeral site. Inside is a vaulted stair case leading down to the most magnificent burial chambers ever found in the Maya area. The tomb was built for Pacal, or Uoxoc Ahau who lived in the seventh century.
A visit to these pyramids in Mexico, will reveal so many things about the people of ancient civilization to you. You can take your next holiday trip to Mexico; relax, and learn at the same time.

7 nights for the price of 5 at my favorite Jamaican Villas!

Most of you have heard me speak of my love for villa vacations, especially the fully staffed villas in Jamaica. There simply is nothing as relaxing as being attended to by a full staff while on vacation. A staff that is dedicated to looking after only your personal family or group and who works diligently and lovingly to prepare gourmet meals and keep your vacation home spotlessly clean. Many of my favorite homes are participating in a summer promo that offers 4 nights for the price of 3 or 7 nights for the price of 5 plus free airport transfers! And about those gourmet meals… how does Fettuccini with Ginger Grilled Lobster in Olive Oil and Fresh Tomatoes or Coconut Chicken Curry served with Timbales sound? Served al fresco, of course. Most of these villas are not yet on my website... send me an email and I will fill you in with more details and photos! (Photo is Haystack Villa in Montego Bay)

Travel Warnings to Mexico LIFTED!
Updated: May 15, 2009CDC’s Travel Health Warning recommending against non-essential travel to Mexico, in effect since April 27, 2009, has now been downgraded to a Travel Health Precaution for Mexico.
Current Situation
CDC has been monitoring the ongoing outbreak of novel H1N1 flu in Mexico and, with the assistance of the Mexican authorities, has obtained a more complete picture of the outbreak. There is evidence that the Mexican outbreak is slowing down in many cities though not all. In addition, the United States and other countries are now seeing increasing numbers of cases not associated with travel to Mexico. Finally, the risk of severe disease from novel H1N1 virus infection now appears to be less than originally thought.
CDC Recommendations
At this time, CDC has removed its recommendation that U.S. travelers avoid travel to Mexico.
CDC continues to recommend that travelers visiting Mexico take steps to protect themselves from getting novel H1N1 flu.
Gay Travel Guide to Mexico

Mexico is a welcoming environment for gay travelers. In fact, it is one of the most welcoming places you will find with amazing beaches, hot night life and many historic attractions. It is a well rounded place to visit if you want a vacation with everything. Mexico's biggest cities are some of the most friendly places in the world for gay travelers and you can not go wrong by visiting here on your next vacation.
There are many areas in Mexico that have large gay communities. Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancun, and Puerto Vallarta are some of the best places to visit to experience the best that Mexico has to offer. One of the reasons why these cities are such inviting places is due to the anti-discrimination laws that are very respected. Besides that, these cities are places where there is always something going on.
Mexico City
As the oldest city is North America, Mexico City offers history and culture It is the center of Mexico where politics and business are important. This city offers amazing historical sites like the ruins of Tenochtitlan and Tula. There are also many museums highlighting the heritage of the country.
Guadalajara
The second largest city in the country, Guadalajara is know for tequila and mariachi music so you know it is a great spot to have some fun. The nightlife is awesome and the food is scrumptious. There also is great shopping near by, so you are never bored in this city.
Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is a very harmonious area of Mexico. It is home to some of the best gay bars in the country. A few to check out are El Morbo, Paco Paco and Los Amigos. This city also has the well known Blue Chair Beach, which is a gay beach on the main shoreline just south of Playa los Muertos. Beaches and clubs are not all you will find in Puerto Vallarta, though. There is also the beautiful Isle of Yelapa where you will find hiking trails, a waterfall and a lagoon.
Cancun
Probably the most popular tourist attraction in Mexico is Cancun. Cancun is a well known party spot for Spring Breakers and that is due to the amazing beaches. The beaches of Cancun are endless. Cancun lies on the Yucatan Peninsula where weather is amazing and the water is warm and welcoming. You can explore the stunning reefs and a large array of marine life while in the area. Cancun also has a lively nightlife with plenty of discos that are open all night.

Not everything has been covered here, but you can be sure you will find great food, beautiful beaches and plenty of things to do and see when you visit Mexico. There is something for everyone, from the active night life to the stunning waters to the awe inspiring historical sites. No matter what your idea of a great vacation is, you can travel to Mexico and find exactly what you want. All of this is only made better by the environment in Mexico that welcomes gay travelers.

Protect your trip with TRAVEL INSURANCE!
A tale of two clients...Client A planned and booked their trip in December. A trip to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary. They wanted the first week of May because it is one of the first weeks of low season rates in the Caribbean & Mexico. So we planned an elaborate trip to the Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen, a delightful resort and one of the only AAA 5 Diamond Resorts in Mexico. Then the swine flu broke out. And now they must cancel. Their trip total was $5675 for the week. Cancel for Any Reason Insurance was $119/per person. One quick phone call to my office and they are only out the cost of the insurance premium.
Client B planned and booked their trip in February. A trip to celebrate the last few weeks of bachelorhood. We booked 4 rooms at the Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen. They denied insurance, wanting to keep the trip cost down. With 8 people, the trip cost $6312. Without travel insurance, they are only going to be refunded $2424. Insurance for their trip would have only been $89/per person. Such a loss.

Minimalist Chic... La Amada Hotel
I love new hotels... everything is all shiny and fresh and without the ever present weather beaten patina that all seaside hotels eventually wear.... not that the patina bothers me, it actually has the opposite effect.... it makes me feel like coming home. But a new hotel, lacking any signs of the salt and humidity... ohhhh... that is a rarity and so to be enjoyed.
This could be your room... a neutral palate with plenty of space for you to daydream...
This spa is focused on water therapies... ahhhhhh....

Then we'll take in the sunset... sleep peacefully... awaken... repeat.
