Kansas City Water Fountains

Fountains are part of everyday life as you take a walk around Kansas City and they make a beautiful and pleasant addition to every location you find them. Kansas City is the largest of the cities in the state of Missouri and covers a very impressive 319 square miles and has a population of over 2 million people. The city has a rich history and this is evident as you walk around the city with monuments and statues of fallen heroes of times gone by. Kansas city is organised into a series of more than 240 different neighborhoods and with some major redevelopment the centre of the city is undergoing a serious facelift.

The Kansas City water fountains play an important role in the ambience of the city and there is nothing better on a hot day than hearing the sound of flowing water or dipping your toes into the cold water. The array of fountains is impressive and the design flare and imagination to build the impressive water features is testament to the sculptures. There are many different water fountains in Kansas City and one of the most impressive is the Crown Center Square Fountain which has jets of water shot up 60 foot into the sky.

The fountain is a popular place for the cities visitors and inhabitants to enjoy relaxing and for the children to play around the water jets. The mechanics of such a fountain is incredibly impressive and without a retaining basin which is usual for a fountain it makes use of an underground reservoir. The figures for such a fountain to function are quiet extraordinary with over 2000 gallons of water being pumped around the fountain every minute and the basin holding 37500 gallons of water. The Crown Center Square Fountain is not only an impressive water feature but a marvel in engineering and is the pride of the city.

There are many other fountains to grace the squares and parks of Kansas City and Fire Fighters fountain, Children's fountain and the Sea Horse Fountain are just some of the most popular ones. The impressive water features are created by skilled craftsman using natural stones and metals to create the final masterpiece. There is such a broad platform of fountains that can brighten up the city all year around and some are more traditional and others are contemporary and make use of modern day materials which brings such a diverse look to all areas of the city.

Some of the fountains have the traditional pool/basin and this is used by the pump to send water round the fountain. With water being shot up to 35 feet in the air or more there are some huge pumps within the fountains to keep the impressive features active all year round. The city has a real spirit of togetherness and the importance of the fountains has never been clearer than by the funds raised for the Northland Fountain or as it is named the "Spirit of Cooperation" by local schools and businesses to ensure it was built.
