Have You Visited Fodor's Lately?

The Internet is overflowing with review sites... sites hosting forums for travellers to post their own personal account of their vacations. TripAdvisor, IgoUgo, and VirtualTourist, to name a few. While these sites serve a purpose as we all strive to become authors in our own right and need to feel validated when we have a negative or surprising experience, there is something wonderful about a well written, thoroughly researched travel review. Enter Fodors.com.

Many of the authors at Fodors are well-traveled and their point of references for noting details about a certain destination are many and varied. I have never understood why travellers would prefer to only read the reviews of "real" travellers and ignore the professional review. There simply is no comparison to a review of a Caribbean hotel by someone who has visited over 100 others. They know what to look for, what questions to ask of the staff, and what details you and I might just overlook in our research. So next time you are researching an island getaway, add Fodors to your list!

Jamaica & A Villa by the Sea....

A true villa vacation is one that comes with a staff included. A staff that considers this villa their own. They lovingly care for the property with tender touches...
You arrive to warm, smiling faces and huge bear hugs... followed by cool drinks and a light snack served poolside while you take in the view. Oh how this reception will wash away the weariness of travel and any effects from changing climates.

The butler quickly unpacks your suitcase and whips up another fruity concoction... at the bar... on the verandah... overlooking the sea. Just sit.

Dinner the first night is always a traditional Jamaican roast chicken dinner with all the typical tropical sides... rice & peas (they're really beans), fried sweet plantain, and a veggie. Dessert is indulgent... chocolate rum cake, pineapple upside down cake or maybe rum raisin ice cream. The wine will flow alongside the conversation and soon sleep will whisper in your ears and you will retire... right here:Your first breakfast could be banana pancakes. Fluffy savory batter surrounding freshly picked pieces of banana... hot from the griddle and dripping with butter. The fruit plate is equally enticing... long strips of papaya holding tiny wedges of lime for squeezing, cubes of rich mango waiting to melt in your mouth, fresh oranges - huge - easily the size of your palm.

Sip coffee - Blue Mountain - thick and woodsy and only perfect with a dash of cream and a heaping spoonful of sugar... then gaze. Let your eyes land on the housekeeper as she places hot fluffy towels on the chaises by the pool... all rolled up and waiting.

Look past and see the sea. No words. It just is - perfect - and alive - all its own.

Back at the table and more conversation with travel companions who slept as soundly as you in a room like this:
What to do first?

A swim. Then it is lunch by the sea... and more swimming.

The staff spends their day chasing dust bunnies out of the house, pressing your laundry, and stirring the pots with tonight's dinner. All while humming a little diddy.

From the pool, if your lucky, you can hear this humming.

Dinner the second night is full of laughter enjoyed while sharing Pumpkin Soup, Fettuccine with Ginger Grilled Lobster in Olive Oil and Fresh Tomatoes, and Rum Apple Crepes.

Then its off to bed again. Repeat this scenario 5-6 times and it was time to fly home. This trip could be all yours. Just let me know when you want to go!

List of Cities in Afghanistan

There are a number of cities in the nation of Afghanistan. As much as we would like to tackle each one of those cities, our list of cities in Afghanistan would like to focus on the largest and most famous ones.

There are actually twelve areas encompassing the list of cities in Afghanistan. Our discussion will merely cover five cities. However, we would like to mention all twelve areas that are included in the list of cities in Afghanistan. These cities are Sari Pul, Ghazni, Sheberghan, Khost, Puli Khumri, Talugan, Lashkar Gah, Jalalabad, Kunduz, Mazari Sharif, Herat, Kandahar, and Kabul.

We would like to discuss first Kabul, the last one mentioned in the list of cities in Afghanistan. Kabul is actually the biggest city of Afghanistan and is, of course, considered as the nation's capital. The population is estimated to be more than two million five hundred thousand in Kabul alone. This city is actually situated in Greater Kabul. If the population of the entire Kabul is to be asked, it would probably reach an approximate of three million residents.

Kandahar is also included in the list of cities in Afghanistan and is considered as the second biggest city, next to Kabul. In 2006, its population was estimated to reach three hundred twenty four thousand eight hundred. Kandahar is situated in the south side of Afghanistan, wherein the Arghandab River is in sight.

Another area encompassing the list of cities in Afghanistan is the city of Herat. Herat has a population of three hundred ninety seven thousand four hundred fifty six, as reported in 2006, and is located in the Hari River's valley. Herat is known for its historic buildings such as the citadel which was built by Alexander the Great.

Another city in Afghanistan is the city of Mazari Sharif, which is the capital of the province of Balkh. In 2006, the estimated population of Mazari Sharif was three hundred thousand six hundred. In the center of Mazari Sharif, there is a mosque and sanctuary called the Shrine of Hazrat Ali. Others call it the Blue Mosque. In English, Mazari Sharif means Noble Shrine.

Kunduz is another city that is definitely included in the list of cities in Afghanistan. Kunduz may also be spelled as Qhunduz and is found in the northern part of the country. In 2002, the population was estimated to be ninety five thousand. Such number of population may already be considered notable as its population in 1979 was reported to be fifty three thousand two hundred fifty one only.

These are the five places included in the list of cities in Afghanistan.

Postcards From Europe

While on a recent flight I was able to sit back, relax and read a book from my favorite travel writer - Rick Steves. I have been using his great knowledge and experience on 8 European trips in the last 9 years - his hints and hotel recommendations have been wonderful and we read his books many times prior to departure and while on the trips - some vendors even give discounts by just showing the book.

Even funnier is seeing other travelers with the same book and chatting with them over what was fun and can't miss locations. His current book Postcards is different, very different, rather than making recommendations Rick is very thoughtful and reflective in his travels (most we have been to as well). For example, Rick talk about his experiences over the years whereby Europe and some locations specifically - Rothenburg - have went from a wonderful medieval town to something more akin to Disneyland. His thoughts on Munich were right on and even his discussion on high tide and low tide in Venice is not what one would expect.

He also was caught between finding new locations and getting offers of freebies but as a writer he wants to be objective and also not creative the next big thing.

So while I enjoyed his travel books and guidance this was a different side of Rick and it was informative and a better look into what makes him such an icon in the travel world.

We will be going to Europe again in 2010 and will follow his advice with confidence.

Have Fun While Traveling With Kids

Traveling with young kids can be a great experience---or it can be a nightmare if you don't prepare and plan ahead! Whether you are planning on a long airplane ride or a long car ride, pre-planning goes a long way in keeping the children entertained and quiet.

Prepare Snacks

Children get hungry on long trips, and if you pack your own snacks, you can be sure the food is healthy, and avoid making unplanned stops along the way. Pack snacks that take a significant amount of time to eat, like trail mix or cereal, this will keep children occupied and make time seem like it is passing much faster. For the sake of your sanity and your car's interior, avoid messy snacks, or snacks that need to be eaten with a fork or spoon. . Bring something to drink as well because dry foods will inevitably bring thirst. If you partially freeze juice boxes or water bottles before you leave, you will be able to provide cold drinks without making additional stops.

Bring DVDs and Books

Depending on the age of your child, you may want to bring along some DVDs, or a protable music player. If you don't watch much television at home, then the novelty of watching TV in the car will give you miles of peaceful driving. Make a trip to the library just before your trip, but don't let the kids have the books until the trip commences. If you are concerned about losing library books, head to a bookstore instead.

Bring Along Games

There are a number of different games geared toward road trips or long plane rides. You can bring cards, puzzle books or even board games that come with magnetized pieces. It is important to note that while most of these activities are fine for plane rides, they can cause car sickness. To see if your child will be subject to car sickness during travel, experiment with shorter trips, for most children car sickness will occur within a few minutes if they are reading or keeping their mind occupied in the car.

Bring a travel pillow and blanket

Long car or plane trips may run into naptime, and can even make a child who doesn't normally nap drowsy. If you're traveling overnight with kids, the best you can hope for is that they will sleep the entire way through. If possible you can facilitate this with comfortable blankets and pillows. If you are on a plane you can ask the flight attendant for these items at the beginning of the flight so that they will be ready if ever your children need them.

Planning ahead for your trip, and packing plenty of interesting items for kids to look at and do is the key to harmonious travel. If you are bringing multiple children, consider packing a "car bag" for each, with a small snack, bottled water, and some interesting activities or books Don't forget to save a few interesting items for the return trip as well!

10 Reasons to Cancel Your Timeshare

Today we are going to discuss the reasons why you might want to consider canceling your timeshare contract. Many have been inquiring into whether or not they should cancel their timeshares and most are not sure of the reasons, and resources that are available out there. If you have doubted your timeshare purchase, you might want to read further.According to ARDA, American Resort Development Association, timeshare sales increased from 2006 to 2007 by 10.3 percent and total sales in 2007 was $6.1 billion.

That's right, BILLION! In 2007 there were more fixed and floating weeks sold than points. This puts to rest the scam of sales reps stating that within a certain amount of time points will be the only product developers will sell. That is simply not true and not supported by any statistics. The average price in $2007 for a week was $19,247. Remember that was in 2007. This price was on average 14 percent higher than in 2006. In 2008 the average price for a timeshare in the United States was $20,152, an increase of over $900.00. In 2008 sold $9.7 billion, an increase of over $3 billion in one year. The majority of timeshares are in the state of Florida and on or in close proximity to a beach.

What does all this mean? Well, it tells you that timeshares are a popular thing in our culture. It tells you that sales are increasing and because of that, prices are increasing as well. Does this say that timeshares are a bad thing? Not at all. this tells you that anything that has value like this is going to have a huge sales campaign and strategy to get the consumers to the product and hungry for the product. Now that we have all the statistics, let's get to the meat of this blog article.

What are the reasons that one might consider canceling their timeshare? Here is a simple list of 10 items that if happened, you should investigate canceling the deal.

1. A very long and aggressive sales presentation. Timeshare presentations/tours are supposed to last anywhere from 60 - 90 minutes before the people touring can get their gifts that were promised to them. During this process the sales representative is supposed to build rapport, gather information, and create desire for the customer. They will take you to the models, and ask questions about how you vacation and what you are currently spending. This process should last approximately 45 minutes, which will give them time to show you two options based on how you travel and what you spend. Once that is done and you "puke" at the cost, they will bring in their manager to attempt to get a better deal. You know the one that they bent over backwards for and that is so low that you can never return to get again. I have heard of timeshare tours lasting as long as 10 to 12 hours. That is not a tour, that is being held hostage. If you told them no several times and were there over 4 hours, you might want to really look further into what you have done.

2. If you took a timeshare tour and did not get the gifts that were promised to you, that is completely against every states timeshare regulations and you need to really consider canceling the deal. Any timeshare company that would do business on the front end like this is not a credible company. Just the same as starting a relationship off on a lie. The normal person would not stand for that, and it is a reason to really believe that this is just the start of more bad things to come.

3. If at any time the sales representative starts discussing timeshare ownership would be an investment, they are crossing an ethical line. If this has happened to you, this is a huge red flag and is totally illegal in the US, Canada, and Mexico. This goes against the Federal Trade Commission's regulations concerning timeshare sales.

4. If you were promised to make a certain amount of money off of rental, your sales rep has crossed the ethical line. They can tell you that you can rent your timeshare out, but they cannot tell you that you can make a certain amount and they should not tell you that they can show you secrets to do this. This is probably the number one breech in ethics that we see. If this has happened to you, get advice.

5. If you were told that you can write trips off on your taxes, or owning will give you a tax break, get assistance. This is completely illegal and timeshare sales reps know that they are not allowed to provide any tax advice. They are allowed to say that you need to seek advice from a tax professional.

6. If you were never told that you have a right under state law to cancel your timeshare and what the cancellation period is, you want to seek advice. This is the consumers right and has to be given.

7. If you were told that because of a certain reason, no matter what the reason is, that you cannot cancel and all sales are final, get advice. Again, you have a right to cancel within the states cancellation period.

8. If you were told not to read the documents and to just sign them and read them later, that is a red flag. Any credible timeshare closing agent will want to take the extra 30 minutes and ensure that you completely understand what you are signing and what your rights are. If you did not get this, seek advice.

9. If you were told that you will never have to pay maintenance fees because of their referral program, or that maintenance fees will never go up, get advice. Many timeshare sales reps will short cut and state this instead of taking the time to explain how maintenance fees work and why they are needed. If you were told this, you might want to investigate.

10. If you were told that you will never have to pay exchange fees, and that you can exchange anywhere without any constraints, seek advice. This is another tactic that the weak sales rep will take instead of taking the time to explain how the exchange program works. You have some places because of location and size that are very difficult to get to and can take up to 2 years in advance to make the reservation.

This is not an all inclusive list. There are other areas that sales reps use to get you to think that you are getting more than what you actually are, but these are the most common. If you have 3 or more and have purchased within the last year you need to contact a timeshare assistance company for advice. As far as timeshare assistance companies are concerned, click here for more information.

How to Save Money When Traveling

Taking a vacation is a serious money adventure. It's not just hotel rooms, it's all the expensive food, souvenirs and gas or plane tickets. It can add up in a hurry and if you don't plan out ways to save a little of that hard earned dough it can get quickly get out of hand.

We aren't obsessive about saving money, but we do find a few ways that help keep costs down.

1. If flying, we price search several carriers, travel sites and routes. Usually buying directly through the carrier is easier, but sometimes not. Consider whether you want a non stop flight or can allow for some connections.

2. If driving we know we'll spend money on gas and hunting for low priced stations seems a bit of overkill. But there are other fuel options at the pump and we'll check to see if an ethanol option is cheaper. Don't forget that ethanol gives you worse gas mileage so if it's not cheap enough (at least 10 cents) then get regular and gain on the economy end.

3. I love to shop for hotel deals and if I'm a member of a hotel chain I like to add up for free nights. Sometimes we have requirements of needing a suite so we look for the best deals on a variety of hotel sites, but again, buying direct through the chain's website is often cheaper.

4. We share meals. Eating out is terribly expensive and there is always so much food. To help our bodies and our wallets we will share as much of the meals as possible. We still splurge on new things we want to try, but there's no reason to eat 2000 calories per sitting when we could easily split that sandwich and have a cheaper snack later.

River Cruises in the USA

River cruises in the USA may not have castles and ruins, but they have their own history, charm and, in some cases, spectacular scenery.

What river cruise adventures does the United States have to offer in comparison to those in Europe? Well, to be brutally frank, not much.

This surprises me, since one would surmise that the US certainly has enough rivers and canals to make river cruising a viable enterprise.

However, second thoughts on the matter bring a few glaring problems to light. Our mighty Ohio/Mississippi River system lost its major cruise boat with the permanent docking of the Delta Queen. Now, if you want to go down the Mississippi, you'll have to build your own raft.

However, all is not lost, as someone picked up the slack and the Niagara Prince, a 78 passenger European-style river boat now cruises from Chicago to New Orleans. More info can be found at American Heartland River Cruise. As of now, two 14- day cruises in May and June are scheduled for 2010.

A river cruise on the mighty Missouri was possible, but no more. This notice is up on their web site: "RiverBarge Excursion Lines, Inc. has been forced to curtail all operations for 2009 due to economic conditions. Rising costs and very soft bookings have forced this decision." So, economics seems to be a large part of the problem.

However, once the nostalgia and fun of riding on an ancient river boat passes, one realizes that these rivers flow through essentially flat mid-western terrain. Plus the river towns lack the picturesque and exotic quality of those in foreign places.

The rivers that do flow through the scenic, hilly areas of the US, may be okay for rafting, canoes, or other small boats, but they tend to be too small or shallow for serious river cruise boats.

There are, however, several major exceptions. The most spectacular scenery is courtesy of the Columbia/Snake river system, which can be "river cruised" courtesy of CruiseWest. TravelWizard, may be dated, but it does list cruises on the Columbia and the Ohio River.

The ante bellum south of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida can be seen on the East Coast waterway on ships, such as The American Star, operated by the American Cruise Lines. They also provide cruises throughout the Eastern Seaboard, such as Chesapeake Bay and Maine. In New York they ply the Hudson River, with its stunning scenery and the attraction of New York City to add flavoring.

In New York, the Erie Canal still acts as a canal, but primarily for recreation. There are countless "day" or hour trips. Mid Lakes Navigation offers 2 or 3 days canal boat tours with evenings spent in land hotel accommodations. It's even possible to rent a self-drive boat for a week or more at Erie Canal self-hire boats 3 or 7 days.

For more info on New York's canal system look at NYCanal.

USA River Cruises is an agency that covers river cruising throughout most of the country.

However, for better or worse, the giant lion's share of river or canal cruising is short term, maybe only an hour or two. Up and back. And it seems there are many, many of these available in virtually every navigable river or lake in the country. All it takes is a little Googling.

However, these short trips may be worthwhile as they could provide some indication of what river cruising in the USA is all about.

Discovering Istanbul

While not the capital of Turkey, Istanbul is the largest city and the financial, industrial and cultural centre of the country. With a continuously growing population of over 12.5 million, Istanbul is the 5th largest city in the world. Surrounded by the Sea of Marmara, the Golden Horn, the Bosporus Strait and the Black Sea, Istanbul is connected extensively with sea ports.

Famous for being the only city in the world situated on two continents, Istanbul truly does bring together the East and the West. Around 70% of the population live of the European side, yet the city is well connected by highways and ferry routes to the Asian side. In fact, the commuter ferrying between both sides of Istanbul fortify the city in both business and tourism. The extensive land and sea routes connected through Istanbul create an economic centre for the country, along with international connections for foreign trade routes.

Istanbul has a long history dating back to the Copper Age where human settlements have dated back to around 6500BC. During its extensive history, Istanbul has been a capital city and centre of several empires including the Roman Empire, the East Roman Empire, the Latin Empire and most recently the Ottoman Empire. Only in 1923 with the forming of the Republic of Turkey was the capital city moved from Istanbul to Ankara.

The city was founded in 667BC as Byzantine, changing its name in 330AD to Constantinople, how it remained until becoming Istanbul with the forming of the Republic. Istanbul began to take on its modern form in the 1940s when many historical buildings were destroyed to create avenues, boulevards and public squares.

Re-creation of the city in the middle of the 20th century was insufficient to cope with the massive population growth experienced during the 70s and 80s. The construction of new factories presented strong employment opportunities leading to years of expansion, causing the city to more than triple in population.

The excessive population growth lead to fast and illegal construction to cope with the demand, with over 60% of the newly built housing being below standards. This high density of poor construction caused devastating consequences during the 1999 earthquake that affected the city. Construction following 1999 has been to high standards with precautions against future possible earthquakes, continuously striving to cater to the population growth of around 3.5% per annum.

Featuring a seemingly never ending list of attractions, Istanbul continues to draw visitors and migrants for holidays and relocation purposes. The extensive history and culture of the region blends effortlessly with the modern social and ethnic diversity of the city's inhabitants. Millions of visitors are attracted to the city on an annual basis from all corners of the globe, whether for its cultural, commercial or historical features.

The city is serviced by two international airports, the main one being on the European side and the smaller airport on the Asian side. Istanbul is also easily reached through its international highway, train and coach links, while its port is considered to be the most important in the country. Convenient travelling options are abundant in the city, with a subway, light rail, buses, trams and motorways. Recreational sailing from the many marinas of the city has long been an enjoyable sport for locals and visitors alike. While the city is surrounded by seas, beach style resorts are not a part of the Istanbul lifestyle, with resort towns predominantly along the Aegean and Mediterranean coastline.

Attractions of visiting Istanbul's city lifestyle include cultural features such as historical mosques, palaces and castles, along with varied festivals, concerts, galleries, museums and shopping. Sporting events are catered for with golf, sailing, and football amongst many others.

Istanbul features the largest concentration of golf courses currently in Turkey. New golf courses are currently being constructed along the touristic areas of the Aegean coastal resort towns, yet Istanbul continues to lead the golfing sector with three of the country's most important clubs. Opened in 1895, the Istanbul Golf Club is the oldest in the country and one of the oldest in all of Europe. The Klassis Golf and Country Club is a renowned exclusive club holding several international tournaments. The Kemer Golf and Country Club is built to USGC standards and considered to be the most impressive club in the whole country.

As Istanbul's climate can vary remarkably, visiting the city in either summer or winter can provide dramatically different attractions. Affected by both the Black Sea to the north and the Mediterranean in the south, summers are humid with temperatures averaging around 28ºC, while the winters average around 5ºC with snowfall not uncommon.

Quality Time Means No Distraction?

I have always loved being a dad and the greatest thing I have ever done is take my family and get away from the hub bub of life. We now have a lifetime of memories, pictures, stories, and videos to share every time we get together.

Living near Seattle has it's ups and downs and it has been a hard adjustment because I am not a city person. I hate commuting, then again, who does? Twice a day there is this endless sea of traffic for hours on the freeway. It boggles my mind that people actually get so caught up in the rat race of life they don't prioritize getting away. Needless to say I choose to live on the outskirts, in the country where I can smell the dairy farm across the street when fresh fertilizer hits the ground. My kids think its disgusting.

I chatted with someone the other day who is changing jobs and we figured out that they would spend 40 hrs a month commuting back and forth from home. This equals to 3 months out of the year which equals to 12 work weeks a year just traveling to work. I asked them if they would consider moving closing to work so they could have more time as family and they just thought it was no big deal. Personally my time with friends and family are valuable and I will do anything and everything to keep it my priority. I guess that's why I work from home.

Now, I realize we are in an economic crunch and some people need to cut back but there is one area I will never give up and that is getaway time with my family. Just like the American Express commercials says, "more family vacations, PRICELESS." Listen if you want mor vacations 4 less there are some great getaway opportunities for as little as $149 a week at some incredible resorts within driving distance of most major cities not to mention international travel as well. Anybody can afford that.

Life is about spending quality time with those you care about the most. Quality time means to me, getting away from the normal distractions of everyday life and focusing on undivided attention. Yes, you can do that a little every day and we should but set some priorities in place and make sure you do it for longer than a half hour here and there. Plan 3-7 day get aways at least 2 times a year...

The rewards far out way the cost. Speaking of cost. We have found the most cost effective way of getting away is be a part of a members only resort vacations club. You get the saving advantages of a large membership and the perks are endless. Unlimited usage, no restrictions, at over 5000 condo resort locations. We love it!

Because we have a large family we have had to traveled very cost effectively. The great thing is that we did it without sacrificing on luxury or space. Something you don't get in a hotel. Want to learn more just contact me and I will gladly share our secrets to mor family vacations.

Great Summer Holidays For Kids

Finding the right summer holiday for your family is not always easy. You want to choose a location where you know that kids will be entertained, but it's likely that there may be limitations in terms of how much money you have available to spend.

So how should you go about choosing a holiday within the budget that you have available? Your opening task should probably be to think about the type of holiday that you need - you may find it easiest to include the whole family and to make a written list.

What sort of factors would you want to include? You might want to consider whether you want to stay in the UK or look abroad. This decision is likely to be about whether you believe that you'll be able to get a cheaper holiday at home, or whether you prefer the thought of the better weather that you're likely to see overseas.

Thinking about the weather tends to be important for us Brits! The problem is that the climate at home always seems to be so completely unreliable, meaning that a holiday booked at home can easily be ruined.

The thought of a camping trip to Devon or Cornwall may sound lovely when it's being booked, but it can seem considerably less appealing once you arrive at a campsite that's been receiving torrential downpours for the previous fortnight.

This helps to explain why so many people look abroad for their holidays. When trying to keep kids entertained, this can seem particularly important. The key is to find a location that offers a decent chance of warm, dry weather but where you won't be completely reliant on it.

Florida tends to offer many advantages in this respect, with some of the world's very best theme parks being on hand to help your children to have fun. Luckily it's not as costly a holiday as it once was.

With more and more travel companies competing for business, prices have been falling. That means that you can get some great discount deals, whether you're looking to book a flight or an entire package holiday.

Atlantic City Boat Tours

There are many ways that you can get a tour through Atlantic City, on boat, trolley, or foot. Your New Jersey Travel Secrets guy is here to help!

The first type of tours are boat tours or "cruises". These cruises are on Coast Guard certified boats. There are indoor and outdoor areas. Beverages cost extra, though. There is no better place to take panoramic photos then on these cruises.

My personal experience is that the morning cruise was a refreshing way to start the day with my wife. It was a narrated cruise along the ocean front skyline of the City, and the breeze was beautiful. We learned about the City and its famous boardwalk too.

Also, some of the tours are dolphin cruises. They are billed as the ticket to adventure and perfect for all ages! My younger daughter loves dolphins, so if we ever took her to Atlantic City, we'd probably take her on one of these. But when do you bring kids to Atlantic City?

Dolphin sightings are NOT guaranteed however, so think long and hard. This quote from one advertiser says: "On your trip you could see leaping, frolicking dolphins and whales as we head into the open ocean in search of marine life." Notice the word COULD.

Another great way to tour Atlantic City is on a trolley. The tours will pick you up at several different resorts and they include admission to an aquarium!

You would begin your trip with a narrated tour of Atlantic City highlights and then go see the Absecon Lighthouse, which is famous. Believe it or not, there is quite a history around the City besides the games and casinos! This tour of the historic lighthouse gives you a glimpse into American maritime history and Atlantic's past.

You could also combine cruising and trolleying, to form a duo tour. In this case the shoreline cruise would be a picturesque tour around the Gardner's Basin. It is a Then travel on by trolley to Atlantic County's popular Estell Manor Park, which is comprised of over 1700 acres. "

Sounds like fun right? Next time, we will cover walking tours and other possibilities!

The Key To A Great Vacation

If you've ever made plans to take a dream vacation to somewhere you've always wanted to go, you definitely realize that careful planning that is required to make a dream vacation a success. It's not just a matter of booking the flight and showing up. If you want a positive experience, you need to plan carefully. That doesn't mean you can't leave certain parts of the trip up to chance or spontaneity, but there are a few things you shouldn't leave up to chance.

The most important is obviously your transportation to your destination. If you're flying in to your destination, you'll want to make sure to book your flight in advance. Flights are usually cheapest a few months prior to your departure. If you're driving, you'll want to consider whether you need to rent a car or whether you will be taking your own vehicle but whatever you choose, you'll need to budget money for gas expenses.

When it comes to a vacation, one of the most important factors that determine whether or not you have a good time is where you stay. You'll likely be spending a lot of time at this location so you'll want to make sure it's comfortable and has all the accommodations you'll require. You may wonder whether a hotel or a hostel is the best option for you. A hostel can be a great inexpensive option if privacy is not a big issue for you. In a hostel you will most likely be sharing a room and a bathroom. However, if you prefer privacy, more complete accommodations, and don't mind spending the extra money, a hotel is more likely to suit you. Not every hotel is the same, however. Check for reviews of hotels in the area you will be staying and find the one that you think will suit your needs best.

Another important aspect to your great vacation is food. If you're going to be in an unfamiliar area, you may want to look at restaurant reviews or get advice from locals in the area who can point you to the best local easting establishments. This may not seem like a big deal but after a long day of sightseeing, the last think you'll want to do is have to search for a good place to eat.

Next, plan a few points of interest. Even if you're the kind of person that doesn't like to plan extensively and likes to leave things open for being spontaneous, you'll still want to plan a few points of interest to go and see or do. You don't have to plan them down to the very last detail, but you'll find that if you pick a few ideas and have them ready, you'll have a more enjoyable time, especially if something you planned on gets postponed or cancelled.

A great dream vacation isn't just a matter of location. A lot of it relies on you. If you take the time to plan out your vacation, you'll find that you can focus on enjoying your trip instead of stressing about the little details.

Soggy Dollar Bar - Jost Van Dyke

If I could I would BE HERE NOW! I'd pack a bag consisting only of flip flops, bikini, a tunic or two, cut-off jean shorts circa 1989, sunscreen, big sunglasses & hat, and trashy celeb magazines. I'd plant myself on Jost van Dyke for the weekend. I'd sleep here & spend my days soaking up rays and sipping painkillers at the Soggy Dollar Bar.
.

Sometimes, I just want to get away to place where I don't have to "dress" for dinner or schedule appointments of any kind. Where tank tops and shorts are just fine. Jost van Dyke, and especially the Soggy Dollar, is that kind of place... where rank and title are left on the boat and only the unpretentious true lovers of the Caribbean make it ashore. Next time you visit the BVIs, join the Painkiller Club.

How to Get Cheap Holidays Abroad

There are many cheap holidays abroad to be found by shopping around since booking agents offer the same deals but often at hugely varying prices. Reports in the news are that there has been a surge in late bookings for the bank holiday weekend. Apparently around 2 million Brits will head abroad so they can secure some summer sun since the outlook for the UK this weekend could go either way.

There are many cheap holidays abroad where you will almost be guaranteed to feel the sun shining in your face, popular destinations for this weekend will be short breaks for the families however if you don't have the constraints of sticking to school holiday terms then you can venture further a field for bargain holidays for this summer period and look to fly after this weekends bank holiday. If you are booking your flights and accommodation separately then it would be wise to book after Tuesday at the very least and if possible in mid September to avoid high flight prices.

Experts have previously advised the cheapest holidays abroad would be in countries outside the Euro zone such as Turkey and Bulgaria since the exchange rate dive bombed and almost hit a one euro to one pound exchange. However the exchange rate has improved greatly for those using sterling pound and there are many countries using the Euro where hotels are offering massive discounts off room prices which offsets the slightly higher costs of holidaying there.

If you are seeking a beach holiday add Spain, Portugal (which have suffered significantly from the downturn) Greece, and Turkey to your list of destinations and for city breaks there are bargain vacations to be found such as travelling to Rome and Barcelona and even New York.

I've heard of massive discounts off hotel prices of up to 50% for hotels in Spain and in New York. You will be able to afford a holiday this year or enjoy a luxury four star hotel!

Remember to shop around, use the internet to compare deals and visit your travel agent to see what there offers are. If you have found great deals on the internet it can be worth bargaining with the high street travel agent to see if they are willing to match or beat your deal.
