Ouarzazate is a Moroccan city of different cultures and traditions. Ouarzazate Morocco has been the favorite film locations of many directors and actors. When people think of camping, they typically envision summer vacations: warm days, clear starry nights, nature in full-bloom. Few campers think about camping in the winter. However, like summer camping, winter camping is enjoyable if you know how to prepare properly.

One benefit of winter camping is that you don't have as much company - children are back in school, and the cold weather keeps the crowds away. The mysterious beauty of winter is another draw: imagine still silhouettes of bare tree branches, refreshingly cold and crisp air, a light dusting of freshly fallen snow. And if the scenery doesn't entice you, well, know that winter camping rates are as cheap as they come.

Still, winter camping presents a number of unique hazards and risks. By following the suggestions below, you can effectively minimize those risks.

Obtain the Right Equipment

1. You'll need a few special items in addition to your regular camping equipment, including a heavier sleeping bag and bedding to combat colder temperatures. It is also essential to bring heavier, warmer clothing.
2. You'll need a reliable source of light during the darker days and longer nights. LEDs are brighter than other bulbs, and they require less energy, so I recommend them for winter camping expeditions. Choose an LED lantern to enjoy the most light around the campsite. A portable LED flashlight is more convenient for moving about the campground at dusk. Better yet, a LED headlamp will free up both hands for optimized efficiency and convenience.
3. Don't overlook packing a good knife. A combo knife or multi-tool is a great option for serving multiple needs. When you're in potentially hazardous conditions, it's best to be as prepared as possible and have as much at your disposal as you can carry.
4. Be sure you have adequate storage for all your supplies. It should be waterproof and/or airtight, to shut out the winter weather.
5. Beef up your survival kit. In addition to basic first-aid supplies, make sure you have an emergency blanket, a whistle, and a reliable source of fire, like waterproof matches, a lighter, fire-starter, candles, etc.

Camp Safely

1. Before you leave, tell people where you're going and give them an itinerary.
2. Do not camp alone. The adage "safety in numbers" couldn't be more true for winter camping.
3. If you will be camping in the wild, be sure you thoroughly know the area where you're heading. Obtain any maps you will need and be comfortable with basic map-reading skills like using a compass.
4. Ensure someone in your party is educated in basic wilderness first-aid.
5. Check the weather before you leave, so you know what to expect. Really, you should be prepared for any condition, as weather has a tendency to change unexpectedly during the winter.

When you are adequately prepared and take the right precautions, the advantages of winter camping heavily outweigh its disadvantages. I encourage you to find a friend, pack your camping equipment and give winter camping a try.

Sea Pines Forest Preserve is one of Hilton Head Island's most exotic nature tours. You can survey original Hilton Head Island habitat up close and personal from the comfort and convenience of your own car.

This is a driving tour as well as a walking tour, which makes it an attractive option for the very young and the very old. That's because you don't have to leave the car to enjoy much of the scenery at Sea Pines Forest Preserve. This is a boon for elderly persons who may have mobility issues or for families with very small children,

Not only that, you may feel safer watching the alligators from the security of your automobile, if they tend to make you nervous. However, when it comes to the T-Rex's we make no guarantees.

You'll find an island-park on a lake near the half-way-point of the Sea Pines Forest preserve, beautifully cultivated, with multiple walking bridges. From these there is access to a picnic area on the island, which lies in a gorgeous setting.

After lunch you can stroll along the pier and try to spot some alligators. There are plenty of large turtles to satisfy the alligator appetite, but keep your children in close tow at all times. Alligators can move surprisingly fast. Birdlife and fish are abundant in and around the lake and the public is free to try their hand at fishing.

There are actually several other lakes near the center of the park, all easily accessible by Fish Island Trail. This is a paved roadway which cuts through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve, from East to West. Walkways allow access to the lush swamps and bogs, which surround the central sanctuary and lakes on all sides.

The ancient Indian Shell Ring is within easy walking distance of the picnic area, while Harbor Town and the Stoney-Baynard ruins are not far by car. Flora, wildflowers and wildlife, small birds and butterflies and dragonflies are everywhere along the way. But you risk being carried off by a herd of mosquitoes if you forget your bug spray. Don't leave home without it.

Sandals and Sagicor Life Jamaica have decided to part ways. Sandals next July will cease managing the 256-room Sandals Dunn's River Hotel in Mammee Bay, St. Ann. The two companies issued a joint press release on the decision. Sagicor is actively seeking a hotelier to manage the property, whose official lease to Sandals ends on May 31. The announcement brings to nine the number of hotels being operated by Sandals in Jamaica under the Sandals and Beaches brands.

In local Jamaican press reports Sandals is denying that the move was made in response to the current economic situation by pointing out that the company recently acquired Emerald Bay in the Bahamas from Four Seasons. Sandals also cited other investments in existing properties, such as the new River Suites at Sandals Negril and Sandals Royal Caribbean. In addition, the company is constructing Sandals City in Kingston and renovating the Dragon Bay Resort in Portland. Located on Jamaica’s northern shores, the hotel has been in operation since 1959 and has undergone several name changes, modernizations and renovations subsequently. Sagicor purchased the hotel in 1989 and in 2006 invested $15 million in renovations.

“After 15 years of successful partnership and in an amicable arrangement, Sandals Resorts International has decided to terminate its lease with the owners of the Sandals Dunn’s River Villaggio Golf Resort & Spa property in Ocho Rios, Jamaica on May 31, 2010,” Sandals said. “Sandals Resorts International chooses an ownership strategy as a whole, and as such the Sandals Dunn’s River lease no longer fits our current business model. We continually strive to improve our products for consumers and therefore require the flexibility to implement changes without restrictions and to improve, upgrade and maintain our resort product on an ongoing basis. This was not possible under our current lease terms at Sandals Dunn’s River and was the guiding reason behind our decision.”
